Well, since the anniversary we've been busy. We spent the weekend after working for friends as the entertainment at a 'pirate festival' for a local town. A small village on one of the local lakes has a yearly festival and wanted a trendy/cool theme - so they got *us* to do pirate. A bit of a reach, but fun anyway. Three pirates, including the fearsome Captain Redbeard, a few extras, and the two upstanding, honorable, noble town constables (guess where I was cast). Well, honorable and noble until we were offered *gold* to sail with the good Captain. We had a few good dueling scenes (the townies thought we were 'just playing' until they heard steel on steel ...love the reactions to that one!), some singing, and a lot of fun devising 'pirate games' to occupy the kids - it's amazing how many kids will willingly play 'swab the deck', and 'stack the cannon balls'. Although the parents drew the line at playing 'walk the plank'. But a good time was had by all, with a promise of more fun next year.
Then this weekend we left town, much to the dismay of 'The Fuzzy Cat', who is quite put-out that *his* humans seem to leave him alone so often. We went to PA to visit and spend some time with the family. It was nice to see the in-laws again, and relax a bit. The cat may even forgive us for leaving, in a week or so.
In other news Kate and I will be in the Irish Dance regional competition (Oireachtas) the Friday after Thanksgiving in Philly. Keep us in your thoughts folks, it's only our second year of dancing, and our first of actively competing - we're gonna have to work our butts off, and good thoughts can't hurt (although if you can send coordination and timing to those of us who are painfully caucasian, it might help more!)
Be well friends, I look forward to seeing you all soon
