Maryland, for a weekend
Oct. 18th, 2007 10:15 amWhat a weekend!!! Thanks again and as always to
thewhitedragonand
dawntreader90for sharing their home with us.
The weather was (I think) the best we've ever had while visiting Revel Grove, and once again, our friends made it feel like home! Saturday started with my lovely wife picking up her new bodice and Arasaid from Wolfstone (thanks Virginia!!), followed by pucking at the Dragon Inn (nice rat-zard
faireraven).
Then the corruption began! We were taken to Lloyd Studios (by the lovely and LJ-less Marie), and made to salivate over the faboo scrimshaw work (and nice damascus patterning also) on the knives, rapiers, and kitchen sets. I want the sea-dragon ...and pretty much everything else in there too. There followed a great deal of aimless wanderings, interspersed with the running-into of many old friends. Also, the purchase of the new Pyrates CD, and music discussion (as well as a little strumming and hammering) with
skivee and
pyratelady. And then there were shrimp-shooters. And cider. And scotch, and pipes. And ashes on small children, too. Few shows were seen (Aerial Angels, Wolgemut, Strum), but much good conversation was had with a lot of people we've missed over the past year. Then, dinner for many (not as many as started out though) at Applebees, and more good conversation.
Sunday, more good-stuff. I got to wear the Full-Irish with my County Cork plaid (thanks again Virginia!), which the kind souls at Wolfstone re-pleated for me, after exclaiming in horror at the mess I'd made of it on the living room floor. I blame Azrael. More pucking, plotting with the friends, and wanderings. We spent more tiem in the company of the Pyrates, having our CD inscribed by the sea-dogs (and enjoying more good conversation). We finally found the ever-lovely
dansrand got to enjoy her company and musical talents, along with those of several of the lads from Wolgemut. We rambled a bit more until we met up with Cat & the Fiddle Morris, and - as promised - danced a two-hand Irish jig for their amusement erm, enjoyment - and we were even allowed to participate in the rest of their set, despite my pronounced lack of dance ability. Shortly thereafter, following an encounter with two (apparently lost in space/time) Jedi, my plottings began to come to fruition. The rest of the day my lady was showered with roses from the lads of Revel Grove. Gentlemen*, my thanks for making her natal celebration a wonderful thing! I had the pleasure of watching several shows on Sunday: The Davinci Brothers' 'Makin' Meatballs', the Royal Chess match, Mickey Hooligan (nice entrance btw; not many musicians get *ahem* 'escorted' to the stage by His Majesty), and a Pyrates set
*yes, I realize that 'gentlemen' is, strictly speaking, not applicable to most of you ...call it artistic license. I can't remember all of you who participated, but
